Pack War Customs- Memorial Day

Today is a very important day to Americans, Memorial Day. Many people may not know the origins of the day or even why we celebrate it, it only means another long weekend and a BBQ to ring in the holiday. Being in a large military family Memorial Day means the world to my family and me. You see, today is the day that we celebrate the veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.

The sports world is not without some who stepped above and beyond when the call was made. To honor those players who have given their lives in the line of duty I created a custom set, this was the least I could do on a special day like today. There are 3 baseball and 3 football players in the set.

Pack War Customs- Jackie Earle Haley Part II

Wow, has it really been over a month since the last post?

Back in September I posted a set of 3 Jackie Earle Haley custom cards based on characters that he has played, Kelly Leak from The Bad News Bears, Dukes from Semi-Pro and Rorschach from Watchmen. At the time I had planned on creating a 4th card for the set of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street but I had to wait for images of Haley in the Freddy makeup to appear, well the time has come.

The red in the title has become brighter when I loaded it up, on the card it is actually darker more like blood in color.

Era Icons Stamp Card

In the 2009 National Chicle set there is an insert called Era Icons, as a parallel to this insert some of the cards contain a stamp relic. An original stamp of the icon, the checklist includes Babe Ruth, Amelia Earhart and F.D.R. I was making a custom relic card for someone and I had to order the relic, when I received the letter there was a Lone Ranger stamp on it. As a kid I loved the Lone Ranger so this card just seemed like a natural fit for me to make.

The card is based on the 2009 National Chicle set with a couple of changes. I noticed that the back text is a bit off-center so I need to fix that but other wise I like the way that this card turned out.

Custom Hat Patches Part IV

The fourth and final card in my custom Hat Patches set is Felix Hernandez, a solid performer for the Mariners since his call-up in 2005. He has an average record at 58-41 but is coming off of a 19-5 record with a 2.49 ERA for a Mariners team that looks to be on the way up since the addition of Cliff Lee (as long as he comes back from the foot surgery).

Custom Hat Patches Part III

The third card in the set is a fan favorite and a lock for HOF, Ichiro Suzuki. The Ichiro card was a bit of a concern for me because I wanted to stick to nicknames that were 3-4 letters long so the card did not become overburdened with diecut windows and Ichrio is limted on nicknames. A few include Ichi, Hercules and a rumored Ichi Balls that we can apparently thank Buhner for supplying. So, I decided to go with the name he prefers to go by, simply Ichiro.
