In a comment left on my John Elway What If Colts card they suggested what about a John Elway Yankees card so I put one together tonight. I went with the 1983 design because another guy from the 1981 MLB Draft made his first appearance in the 1983 Topps set too, a Hall of Famer named Tony Gwynn.
This may not be my best effort but I wanted to get something up. Elway has a difficult face to work with because it is a bit larger then many people so matching him up with a Yankee from the era was a bit difficult. My wife actually asked “What the hell is wrong with that dude’s teeth?” when she saw the picture. I never realized how big his grill really was until I started on the card.
